Giving Constructive Feedback in Remote Teams

Better conversations. Stronger remote teams. A virtual workshop that turns feedback into a skill you can practice.

01 / THE CHALLENGE

Learning with a clear purpose.

Remote feedback can become vague or feel personal. Learners need a practical structure for describing observable behavior and its impact.

Who it’s for

Team leads and individual contributors collaborating remotely.

By the end, learners should be able to…

  • Distinguish specific feedback from judgment.
  • Construct feedback using Situation–Behavior–Impact (SBI).
  • Practice a feedback conversation with a remote teammate.
02 / THE APPROACH

Make the thinking visible.

A live, practice-led workshop pairs a facilitator demonstration with polls, breakout-room rehearsal, and a short knowledge check. The SBI framework gives learners a repeatable structure.

My design process & rationale

Analyze the communication challenge; align each objective with a practice task; design a worked example; plan a low-stakes rehearsal and feedback rubric. A pilot would test timing and clarity.

Tools & development plan

  • Planned: presentation software
  • Planned: video conferencing with polls and breakout rooms
03 / EXPLORE THE SAMPLE

A closer look at the workshop.

A concept facilitation preview with activities aligned to the learning objectives above.

00–03MINUTES

What makes feedback useful?

Anonymous poll and a brief discussion to activate prior experience.

03–08MINUTES

Meet the SBI framework

Facilitator models situation, observable behavior, and impact; learners identify each part.

08–16MINUTES

Try it in a breakout

Pairs rehearse a realistic remote-team scenario using a three-part checklist.

16–20MINUTES

Debrief & transfer

A knowledge check and one specific conversation learners can prepare for.

Workshop materials

Planned: slide deck, facilitator guide, and participant materials. Links appear here when the files are ready.

04 / REFLECTION & NEXT STEPS

Always room to learn.

Next: develop the slide deck, facilitator guide, and accessible participant worksheet, then pilot the breakout instructions. No learner outcomes have been collected.
